Happy Easter Weekend

Hey friends Happy Easter weekend! I have a few quick favourites to share before I jump off and go spend time with my family. I’m On Holidays! Oh my goodness Term one has left me exhausted and I am very excited to be off from work for two weeks! So this has to be at the top of my list for today’s Friday favourites! The Chips Were Great! Last time we went out for our monthly dinner at the club with friends. The chips I ordered with my meal were like cardboard and really bad quality due to a major chip shortage in restaurants and supermarkets. But this time they were back and boy were they good! The Walking Dead I honestly never ever thought that I would watch this show. I’m all for action, adventure and drama but definitely not flesh-eating zombies. No way! But when Sam asked me to watch this series with him I was all in. I will never take for granted that my 18-year-old wants to watch a series with his mum. And the best part is, it is actually a really good show and I’m loving it! Every episode so far has ended on a cliffhanger and Sam and I end up yelling at the television…WHAT! NO!! I’m sure we will be binge-watching this like crazy for the  next two weeks while I’m on holidays. Fun Australian Autumn Fact We don’t have many native deciduous trees and we mainly have evergreens. So we don’t get all the pretty changing colours of the leaves on the trees in autumn, not where I live in Sydney anyway. And although I complain about the cold a lot. Our coldest autumn days are probably warmer than some summer days in other parts of the world. So as I was walking to work the other morning I snapped a few pics of the trees. See how green they are and some of them are even blooming pretty purple flowers! Date Night Steve and I went out to dinner in Newtown to a place called Pastizzi Cafe and I wore my fun orange top. I don’t usually wear a lot of colours as I like to stick to neutrals. But I really love this T-shirt that I bought from Mitchell Road Antiques a couple of years ago. Dinner was great and we both ordered the veal which came with creamy mashed potato, vegetables and lots of delicious sauce. Swiss Miss I went to Costco again! I don’t think that I have ever made this many trips to Costco in a year ever before. And this time I found my favourite hot chocolate which we can’t get at any of our other supermarkets. I have been on the hunt for this deliciously sweet hot chocolate. I either missed out last year because they were sold out or it didn’t make it to the Costco shelves over here. So I was very excited to find it in stock this time and I’m sure that this massive tin will last me a while. Easter Treats These mini KitKat eggs were good! One of my gorgeous little preschoolers gave me a Ferrero Rocher Easter egg. And these are my absolute favourite chocolates! I have been having one every night as a treat. And a lovely preschool parent parent gave us some cute Easter biscuits. Happy Easter Weekend! Easter is a special time because it’s a time to celebrate the love and sacrifice of Jesus Christ, and to be reminded of the hope and joy that comes with his resurrection! Easter is all about the power of forgiveness and redemption, and the incredible love that God has for each and every one of us! Well, it’s time for me to sign off and go spend time with my family on this Good Friday. We’re all gathering for lunch, and I can’t wait to enjoy some delicious food and  a fun time together!  Thank you so much for stopping by today-I really appreciate it and I hope that you all have an amazing weekend! linking up with Andrea and Erika

fashion mistakes to avoid

Fashion Mistakes To Avoid

Fashion is all about fun, self-expression and of course, creativity! It’s a wonderful way to showcase your incredible personality to the world. Fashion is a great way to enjoy experimenting with different styles and looks. However, there are certain fashion mistakes that can make even the most stylish person look frumpy or outdated or even both! In this post, we will be looking at some common fashion mistakes to avoid, so you can look your best and also feel confident in the fashion choices that you make. WEARING CLOTHES THAT DON’T FIT PROPERLY One of the most common fashion mistakes is to wear clothes that just don’t fit properly. Whether it’s clothes that are too big or too small. Clothes that don’t fit can really make you look unpolished and sloppy. To avoid this make sure that you try your clothes on before you buy them and pay close attention to how they fit. A top tip is to go for a larger size if you find that you are in between sizes. That way you have the option of getting it tailored to fit perfectly. WEARING TOO MANY TRENDS Try not to get too excited about current trends and instead be selective about what you wear and what really suits your personality and body shape. The last thing you want to do is look like a fashion victim! Consider choosing a trending style that you can incorporate into your current look. This is a subtle way to stay on trend yet still maintain the look that you feel comfortable in. NOT DRESSING FOR YOUR BODY TYPE We all have unique body shapes, so it’s important to dress for our individual shape. If you find that you are uncertain about what shape you are then take some time to do a bit of research and learn what styles work in your favour and flatter your body. NEGLECTING YOUR ACCESSORIES Accessories are a major component of any outfit, and neglecting them can make your outfit look incomplete. Therefore make sure to carefully choose accessories that will complement your outfit. WEARING CLOTHES THAT ARE TOO OLD OR TOO YOUNG FOR YOU It’s important to dress for your age and choose outfits that are appropriate for the occasion. If you wear clothes that are either too old or too young for you. Then you risk looking and feeling awkward. If you find that you are uncertain about how a certain outfit looks on you. Then it always helps to ask someone you trust for their opinion. WEARING CLOTHES THAT DON’T MATCH YOUR PERSONALITY The wonderful thing about fashion is that it is all about how you can express your personality. So it’s important to choose clothes that match who you are and clothes that make you feel confident. If you are bubbly and outgoing then you will probably be drawn to bright colours and bold prints. But if you are more of a minimalist then you will feel much more at ease wearing simple neutral pieces. WEARING CLOTHES THAT ARE TOO REVEALING It’s always much more tasteful and classy to avoid revealing too much. DON’T NEGLECT YOUR UNDERGARMENTS It’s important to make sure that your underwear fits properly and doesn’t show through your clothes. After all, underwear is the foundation of any outfit and the last thing you want is to have unwanted lines, creases or bumps. It can really make or break any outfit! NOT TAKING CARE OF YOUR CLOTHES If you invest in clothes then the most sensible thing to do is to take good care of them. Make sure to follow the care instructions on the label to make them last longer. NOT BEING CONFIDENT Confidence is the most important fashion accessory to any outfit. Therefore it’s important to wear clothes that make you feel good. WEARING TOO MUCH MAKEUP Makeup is a fun way to express yourself, just make sure that you don’t overdo it. Because wearing too much makeup can make you look tired or older. It’s safer to stick to a natural look that will enhance your features without overpowering them. NOT DRESSING FOR THE WEATHER Make sure to take a minute to check the weather forecast before you plan your outfit. The last thing that you want to do is wear clothes that are either too heavy or too light. Because you will feel totally unprepared and uncomfortable all day long. NOT EXPERIMENTING WITH NEW STYLES Be careful not to stay stuck in a fashion rut with the same styles on repeat. Don’t be afraid to experiment with new styles and trends to keep your wardrobe fresh and exciting. You might surprise yourself with how much you like a current trend and then incorporate it into your ‘look’. OVER ACCESSORIZING Accessories can add interest to an outfit but it’s always a good idea to not go overboard. If you wear too many accessories it can look overwhelming and the accessories can become the focal point of your outfit instead of the outfit itself. Remember to choose a few pieces that complement your style. CHOOSING QUANTITY OVER QUALITY Try to see clothes as an investment and opt for buying fewer good quality pieces. Fast fashion can be very tempting as it is so cheap but you will find that these pieces won’t last. They are generally made from lower-quality fabrics and may only be on trend for a season. Furthermore, fast fashion is also terrible for the environment. NOT TAILORING YOUR CLOTHES Whether it’s shortening a hemline or sewing in a cinched waistline. These small alterations can make a world of difference in how your clothes look and feel. NOT CONSIDERING YOUR SHOES Always choose shoes that complement your outfit and that are appropriate for the occasion. Make sure that they are in good condition and not dirty or scuffed. The wrong shoes or shoes that are in poor condition will undo any nice-looking outfit. DON’T FOLLOW TRENDS BLINDLY It’s great to keep your wardrobe fresh

April Edition Of Currently

Hey, friends welcome back to the April edition of Currently. I am excited to be linking up with Jennifer from Overflowing With Thankfulness. And today we are going to chat about what we are currently loving, hoping, playing, needing and feeling. So let’s jump right in! LOVING I am absolutely loving my Rest Duvet Sivercool sheets! Not only are they incredibly soft and comfortable, but the Silvercool technology keeps me cool all night long. This has been an absolute godsend during the hot, humid sticky summer nights we have just had. Furthermore, they have also really helped me get through some major hot flashes during the night! We only have one set of these amazing sheets, so when I change them and we sleep in regular cotton sheets, it’s just not the same and I don’t sleep as well. I never thought that I would find better sheets than my one-thousand-thread cotton sheets! But the Rest Duvet Silvercool sheets beats them hands down. My husband loves them too which really says something because he’s usually resistant to change when it comes to bedding. HOPING Well, the change of season is well and truly upon us. So I’m hoping to embrace the change from hot weather to cooler weather and live in the moment. I’m going to try hard not to wish the days away until it’s spring again. I did choose mindfulness as my word of the year! So the next few months are really going to test me haha!! PLAYING I’m a huge fan of word games like scrabble but these days my family never seems to be at home at the same time to play. So I have really been enjoying playing Word With Friends on my phone. It’s such a fun game and I love the challenge of coming up with new words and strategically placing them on the board for hopefully some big points! I have also started playing Homescapes. The little characters are so cute and I like doing the challenges to unlock higher levels. NEEDING I am in serious need of a break and thankfully the holidays are just around the corner, and I am beyond excited. FEELING I’m feeling really happy that my ankle is not hurting anymore and I can get back to walking to and from work this week. I’ve really missed not being able to do that and it’s amazing how I took for granted being able to walk pain-free before my injury. Now that I can do it again, I’m really appreciating it and I won’t be taking it for granted ever again!   And that’s it from me today friends. Thank you so much for stopping by to read my April edition of Currently and I hope that you all have the best Wednesday!

A Cozy Weekend At Home

Hi there, friends! I hope you are all doing well and enjoyed a great weekend. For me, the weekend was an absolutely perfect opportunity to enjoy a cozy weekend at home. I didn’t have any plans for Saturday or Sunday. So I took full advantage of it by staying home all weekend long. It was so lovely to spend the time catching up on a little of this and that. It was wonderful to be in my own space, surrounded by my favourite things, and take the time just to be. I really needed a weekend like this one! Friday Night Pasta Night But before my cozy weekend at home started I enjoyed a fun family dinner on Friday night. My aunt hosted this month’s cousin connect. She is such an amazing cook and it was delicious pasta and schnitzel on the menu. An Early Egg Hunt We even had an easter egg hunt because my cousin and her family are flying to Ohio next week and they won’t be here for Easter. And to make the hunt a bit more competitive we decided to include anyone 18 years and younger. So Sam, his sweet girlfriend who are both 18 and two of my cousin’s kids who are 12 and 9 all got to hunt around my aunt’s house for chocolate eggs. It was very funny to watch these two grown-up kids against the real kids! Reminiscing We sat around talking for ages after dinner. I just love how we never run out of funny family stories. This time the conversation turned to my mum. And we all reminisced about her funny antics, especially the way that she used to tease our cat Sushi. She loved our cat and she used to tell me how much happy she felt having Sushi’s company when we were all at work and school. We all had a good laugh remembering how mum used to have staring contests with Sushi to see who blinked first. Yeah, my mum was funny and we all miss her very much. Saturday Just like that, the summer sunshine disappeared and autumn arrived. The sky was grey and it rained all weekend. I found myself reaching for my warm hoodie and I had to put cozy quilts on our beds because hey when it’s 15°C-21°C in Sydney that’s when I start to shiver hehe. Sam went to work early and Steve and I enjoyed a very late breakfast of scrambled eggs and crispy bacon with tomatoes and mushrooms. I saved some for Sam to eat when he got home in the afternoon. It was also perfect weather for hot chocolate with marshmallows. And for lighting candles and embracing the cozy atmosphere. I’m so proud of myself for sticking to my goal of meal planning every week. I think I have only had one week where things went off the rails. Despite this small hiccup, I’m happy that I haven’t let one bad week derail me. So as planned I made a mouth-watering roast lamb for dinner. It was so tender and juicy. The best part was that it was deboned which meant that carving it up was a breeze. I also made some blueberry muffins. I opened my T2 tea sampler that Sam’s girlfriend gave me for my birthday. And I made a nice cup of white tea. It really was white! A Cozy Sunday Sunday I didn’t even make it to church. Instead, I stayed home and had a late breakfast of crunchy rice bubbles. Then at around midday, Steve and I watched the last two episodes of season one of Blue Bloods. It’s such a great show and we are absolutely loving it! Steve went to work and I had a very late lunch. I made a lamb wrap with some salad and pita bread. It was so good. Then I pulled down my small box of Easter decorations. I don’t have a lot of decorations, just a few. And I scattered them around the house for a bit of a cozy Easter vibe. I added more eggs to my bowl of stone eggs that I always have on the dining room table. Hung some eggs with bunny faces on my decorative sticks. I placed a silver bunny and a couple of light-up ceramic eggs on the hallway table. A green bunny and Easter sign. And because we don’t have a lot of places to put decorations in our small house. I sat these silver bunnies on the open shelf in the kitchen. I was really happy with the small Easter touches around the house. In the evening I used up a whole lot of vegetables that had seen better days and made soup. In the evening I wrapped myself up in my soft pink blanket to watch my favourite movie ‘Volver’ with Penelope Cruz. Phew, after a hectic week at work that left my head buzzing, I was just craving a cozy weekend at home. I really needed to hibernate indoors and recharge my batteries. Now I feel ready for the short working week and I am so excited that Thursday is the last day of preschool and then it’s a wrap for term one 2023! Thank you so much for being here today. I hope that you have a wonderful week and I’m excited to be back here on Wednesday. Take care, friends! Happy Monday Linking up with Holly and Sarah Sharing on
