April Edition of Currently

Hi friends it’s great to be back on this sunny autumn day linking up with Jennifer from Overflowing With Thankfulness. It’s the April edition of Currently and today we are chatting about what we are currently loving, looking forward to, buying, planting and cleaning. Thanks so much for being here! LOVING I am loving these sunny, warm autumn days with blue skies and the cool nights are a big bonus. There’s something so cozy about the crispness in the air and it sure does make falling asleep a whole lot easier, compared to those humid, sticky summer nights. I am also loving and relishing our final week of daylight saving. With the clocks set to go back on Sunday, I know that it will be shorter days for us until spring arrives. Ho Hum. LOOKING FORWARD TO I might have mentioned this a few hundred times but I’ll say it again. I can’t wait for the autumn school holidays, only 8 days to go! We are planning a couple of exciting day trips with my cousin and her family. So I’m really looking forward to those! My cousin’s mother-in-law is visiting from Ohio for a few weeks so it will be great for her to experience Taronga Zoo and do a day trip to our capital city, Canberra. When she asked me if I wanted to join them – yes, please!! BUYING I haven’t bought much of anything lately, except for the usual essentials that help keep us alive, like food, etc. It’s easy not to spend money when I’m busy at work during the term. But coming up to the school holidays when I will be able to enjoy some fun shopping trips then it will be a different story. I’m still trying to be mindful of my spending though. Oh yes, I nearly forgot to mention. I recently bought this amazing motion-activated unscented cat deterrent spray and it has worked a treat in keeping our kitten Mochi off the kitchen counters. If you have a furry friend who is exploring no-go zones then this spray is the best! It’s safe, harmless, sanity-saving and super effective! PLANTING I replanted this little Ivy plant that was in a tiny pot. Now it has a bigger home, I hope that it will start to flourish. CLEANING Apart from the usual daily cleaning chores I haven’t embarked on any major cleaning. Although I have noticed the doors calling my name recently, they have a few marks on them that need a good scrub. It’s the school holidays soon so I’ll probably get to them then. And that’s a wrap for this month! Can you believe that it’s April already, wow! I hope you have an amazing day and I look forward to being back here on Friday. See ya!

The ultimate guide to stocking stuffers

The Ultimate Guide To Stocking Stuffers

Hi there friends. Wow, can you believe that we are talking about Christmas? The year seems to have flown past so fast and now it’s the November edition of Let’s Look hosted by Erika and Shay. The topic for this month is Our Stocking Stuffers. I’m excited to share some ideas for stocking stuffers that have been a big hit with my favourite people over the years. *Please be aware that this post contains affiliate links, which means that I may earn a commission if you make a purchase through these links at no cost to you. Thank you for your support! Ideas For Stocking Stuffers Retro Toys My kids are now grown-up men. But they sure do still get a kick out of finding a small token from their childhood. In the past, I have included things like this Voice-changer toy. Touchable mini bubbles   Squishy stress balls   Mario Bros Candy Lego Super Mario Figures   I know it sounds a bit odd to include toys in your grown-up kids’ stockings. But they add the special magic touch that transports them (and me) back to the magical moments of childhood Christmases. Plus I also love hearing them say ” Oh wow! I remember this when I was a kid!”. Favourite Sweet Treats No stocking is complete without adding a special sweet treat. My husband loves liquorice so I always add a bag of Darrel Lea liquorice to his stocking. Sam loves Flakes and Luke enjoys Warheads. My favourite Christmas sweet is Nougat (hint hint) Pocket Sized Gadgets A super cool stocking stuffer idea is to include a pocket-sized gadget of some kind. A couple of years ago I got my husband and sons the Victorinox Swiss Army Swiss Card and they just about lost their minds with excitement. I haven’t found a gadget to top this one yet! Unique Key Chains Key chains featuring your loved one’s favourite movie or TV character make for fantastic stocking stuffer ideas. For us it’s a no-brainer – we all love Star Wars, which means that at some point everyone has discovered a Star Wars keychain in their Christmas stocking. Brain Teasers   Brain teasers are fun stocking stuffers that will provide hours of entertainment! Gifts Cards A small gift card to a favourite coffee shop, juice bar, bookshop or online retailer makes for wonderful stocking stuffers. They are always very much appreciated! Festive Ornament Infuse some extra holiday cheer into your loved ones Christmas tree with a one-of-a-kind ornament. It could be a personalised decoration with their name or something that captures a special memory. I once put a photo ornament ball in my mum’s stocking with pictures of her grandkids when they were little and she absolutely loved it.   Fashion and Beauty Products Beauty products such as lip balm, hand cream or nail polish are great stocking stuffers that will be useful all year round.   Another amazing stocking stuffer that is a guaranteed winner is one of my favourite products ever – the Hollywood Fashion Secrets fashion tape. I seriously tell everyone about it and I could never live without it! I don’t have a lot going on in my chest area so that means that when I bend over my top will gape and it is no bueno! Hollywood Fashion Secrets fashion tape always comes to the rescue! It’s my go-to solution for preventing any embarrassing wardrobe malfunctions. Socks Cozy, colourful or novelty socks make great stocking stuffers and there are so many fun designs to choose from. Or you could just go for the ordinary practical socks that can be worn at any time. My family prefer low ankle socks so I usually include a packet of those in their Christmas stockings. These are the ones I bought last year. These are a few of my all-time favourite stocking stuffers that I love to surprise my family with. Stocking stuffers – they’re like small packages of happiness. Each year I try to pack my family’s stockings with thoughtful little treasures and surprises that I know they’ll appreciate and include ones that are bound to spark a good laugh!

Fun Faves

Hi everyone it’s great to be back for this week’s Friday Favourites link-up with Andrea and Erika. I hope you guys had a fantastic week and are ready and excited to say hello to the weekend. I know that I sure am! There are a few fun faves that I’m sharing with you guys today on this very cold and windy Friday. Thanks so much for being here today! Cozy Moccasins First up, I’m so excited that I bought a new pair of super warm sheepskin mocassins. My old ones really needed to go! I love sheepskin moccasins and I wear them around the house all the time. The great thing about them is that they are not only comfortable, soft and warm but I also love that they have rubber soles with good grip. Making them excellent for when I’m doing chores around the house. Golden Gaytime! Even though it’s been really cold, I still enjoyed a Golden Gaytime for dessert on Wednesday night. This delicious biscuit-coated ice cream is simply divine and a real classic Australian treat. It would have to be on the top of my list of favourite ice creams. Oops, sorry about the blurry pic. But here’s a clear one of the box. A Late Easter Bunny I got a surprise chocolate Easter bunny with my online shopping order! They must have had excess stock but I thought it was a lovely treat. Thanks, Woolworths! Pink Grapefruit I bought this really nice Bundaberg pink grapefruit sparkling drink. Nobody else at home is a fan so I guess that I’ll be drinking all six cans. But that’s ok because they are only mini cans. Focaccia Sam’s sweet girlfriend brought us some homemade beetroot and rosemary focaccia for us to try. It was so delicious and a lovely mid-week favourite. A Funny Quote This came up on my Facebook feed and it made me laugh! Crunchy Leaves My walks to and from work are still a fun fave. On Tuesday I found some crunchy leaves on the footpath, so I stopped and crunched them with my shoes a few times just like I did when I was a kid. I used to have to walk through a park in Burwood to get to school. And there were so many crunchy leaves along the way. But we don’t get many deciduous trees around where I live now so this was a real novelty. I think that this might be the only tree in the whole street that is losing its leaves. Why? This is not really a fun fave but it did make me laugh (I must have been in a great mood!). Why Oh why do teens put nearly empty packets back into the pantry or freezer? I found this whole bag of nothing but three little berries taking up space in the freezer! Smoothies I love smoothies and that’s why yesterday I did a whole post on Delicious and Healthy Smoothies. You can find it here. Chloé This lovely perfume I received as a Christmas present last year is really a big favourite! I only just opened it this week and tried it for the first time. I’m really fussy about perfume fragrances and I prefer subtle fresh scents over strong woody fragrances. Chloé is just perfect and I will have to add it to my list of favourite fragrances because I love it so much! I think I love it even more than Chanel Coco Mademoiselle and I never thought that any fragrance could trump that one! AirPods The new AirPods I got from Luke and Sam for Mother’s Day are amazing! I absolutely love them, they fit so comfortably and when I have them in my ears it honestly feels like I’m not wearing anything at all. To top it off the sound is also fantastic. They are so much better than the Jabra ones I bought a couple of years ago which hurt my ears. And they also stopped working properly after about a year or so. I have been listening to Belinda Carlisle on repeat. I especially love Heaven Is A Place On Earth, it’s such a great song that takes me back to my teenage years.  Belinda Carlisle is coming to Sydney in November and I would love to go and see her in concert. I need a friend to come with me!! And that’s a wrap for a few fun faves this week. I’m really excited about this weekend because I’m off to see Vivid at Taronga Zoo tomorrow and I can hardly wait. I’ll be sure to tell you all about it next week. I hope you have a fantastic weekend Happy Friday! This blog post may contain affiliate links. Amazon Finds

Hey friends! Welcome to the March edition of ‘Let’s Look’. Today we are sharing our Favourite Amazon Finds. I really enjoy linking up with Shay and Erika on the second Wednesday of every month to ‘look’ at how we do life. We cover a range of fun topics and this is what we have looked at so far… In January we looked at Organising A Busy Family and in February we opened up our Medicine Cabinets to share all the things that we keep inside. And as I mentioned before, today we are going to share our favourite Amazon Finds. **Disclosure: The links provided in this post are affiliate links. I will be paid a commission if you use these links to make a purchase Favourite Amazon Finds WINDSHIELD SUNSHADE It has been insanely hot over here with temps as high as 38°C. This amazing foldable sunshade is a fantastic investment as it protects the car from harsh rays. And I don’t have to worry about having to find a shady parking spot. Best of all my fingers don’t get burnt when I touch the steering wheel and seatbelt buckle. Ouch! The windshield shade keeps my car at a comfortable temp. And I don’t have to be afraid to get inside the car even on the hottest days. CEDAR BALLS These cedar balls have been brilliant for keeping the moths away from my jumpers. I was so annoyed last winter when a couple of my work jumpers had holes in them where some moths had enjoyed a feast. I love that these cedar balls also leave a faint cedar smell which keeps my jumpers smelling fresh. So much nicer than the smell of moths balls which are made out of highly toxic naphthalene!! HOLLYWOOD FASHION TAPE This Hollywood Fashion Tape is a must-have! The double-sided tape holds my clothes in place perfectly. I don’t have to worry about my blouses gaping or stubborn necklines that have the scary potential of accidentally revealing way too much! ICE CUBE TRAYS I bought this set of 2 ice cube trays a while ago. They make big round ice balls and large ice cubes. And I made some really fun ice cubes to go in our Christmas punch. If you add berries or sprigs of herbs to the ice cubes then they make your drinks look very fancy. My cousin also has one of these trays and she used hers to make large round cranberry juice ice balls to go with refreshing Prosecco. CAT/DOG GROOMING BRUSH This pet brush has been brilliant for keeping my lovely little cats fur from going all over my furniture. She loves being brushed and then all I have to do to get the fur off the brush. Is push the button at the back and it all comes off as one clump. So easy! BURT’S BEES KISSABLE HOLIDAY GIFT SET I’m a huge fan of Burt’s Bees products and I especially love their lip balm. These fun shimmery colours are really pretty and they keep my lips moisturised throughout the day. And there we have it! Six of my favourite Amazon finds for this month. Thank you so much for stopping by today and I really hope that you have the best Wednesday!
