Most Friday nights I’m home alone because my husband is at work and my son is usually out with his friends or girlfriend. So I have decided that it’s become the perfect opportunity for me to enjoy cozy solo movie nights. Featuring thrillers, drama, science fiction and romance as these are my favourite genres.
I’ve got a lineup of all-time favourite movies that I like to watch on repeat. They’re like old friends-reliable, entertaining and they never disappoint. But I feel like shaking things up a bit, stepping out of my cinematic comfort zone and injecting some new excitement into my movie nights. So I have come up with a Friday night movie plan.
Cozy Solo Movie Nights
Guided by my love for thrillers, drama, sci-fi and a hint of romance. I have put together a list of movies that fit the bill and that I have never watched before. My plan is to get all cozy either on the sofa, beanbag or floor ( I love sitting on the floor). Grab some favourite snacks and get down to satisfying my movie night cravings. Oh yes and let’s not forget the beverages- maybe either a small bottle of Bundaberg ginger beer, a cup of tea or a glass of wine will add a touch of luxury to my cozy solo movie nights. But I am fully aware that a glass of wine might just turn movie night into a snooze fest!
I’m really excited about my movie night plan. It’s the perfect recipe for me to unwind, be entertained and try something refreshingly new. These nights are more than just about movies. For me, they are going to be a great way to embrace relaxation and also enjoy my own company! It will also be so helpful to have a list of movies to be guided by. Instead of spending ages flicking through Netflix or some of the other subscription channels. I usually waste so much time doing this and then I feel so indecisive that I just end up rewatching an old favourite.
Here’s What’s Currently Lighting up My Movie List
Amélie
The Sisterhood Of The Travelling Pants
Mystic Pizza
Marry Me
Interstellar
Dune
Fall
The Gray Man
Fried Green Tomatoes
The Big Sick
These cozy solo movie nights will add a sparkle to my Friday nights and I’m really looking forward to enjoying ‘me time’. I’ll be sure to come back and share my thoughts and reviews on each movie. Also if you guys have any recommendations that aren’t on my list, I’d be thrilled to hear them. Please feel free to share your suggestions in the comments, I would really appreciate it!
Two of my favourite movies – About Time and Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, have you seen either one before?
I haven’t seen them, Sarah. Thanks so much for the recommendation 😊
Oh, I LOVE a movie night! I haven’t seen the ones on your list so I’m going to add them to mine too!
We’re on the lookout for some good series to watch at the moment, we’ve just finished a few of our favourites.
Enjoy your ‘me time’ lovely! xx
I’m a bit weird as I have a Movie Morning, when I know no-one is going to emerge before lunch time but I’ve nothing else to do once the housework is finished. I do tend to scroll Netflix a lot though. I like your list and I’ve seen a few of them. Dune is not the easiest to follow but I’ve watched it about three times now and I’m just itching for Dune II (I read the books when I was a teenager…this has been a LONG wait, lol) I’ve just recently watched a movie which I really enjoyed and looking at your list, I think you might too. It’s called A Man Called Otto, with Tom Hanks (I love Tom Hanks) It does feature suicide attempts though, so it’s not for everyone. Despite it’s real sad theme, it’s actually an uplifting movie.
I love the idea of a movie morning Anne!
Your movie nights sound lovely. It’s nice to have some time when you can watch what you want to watch.
What a great list of movies, I don’t think I have seen most of them but have heard of them. x
You’ve got some great movies listed on here! I keep a list of movies to watch myself too– like 80 for Brady, Book Club 2, and Five Feet Apart.
I saw some of these movies a while ago. Was Mystic Pizza a Julia Roberts film? We watched Parental Guidance with Billy Crystal and Bette Midler last week – it was really funny 🙂
