Funny Inspirational Quotes

Hey there, friends! And hello, Monday! I was going to recap my weekend. But it was pretty much filled with finishing off a bunch of assessment tasks. Along with some food prep and household chores to get myself ready for the week. Productive, but not very exciting, right? And as my two-week break wrapped up, the idea of jumping back to work was constantly on my brain. Time just flew by so fast!! So this morning after the alarm went off, I lay in bed for a few more precious minutes scrolling through some funny inspirational quotes to give myself a big dose of motivation. Funny inspirational quotes are my go-to because humour is always my instant mood booster! So I thought I’d share some of these with you to kickstart your week with a smile – in case you’re struggling just like me! Why Funny Inspirational Quotes Are My Favourite! They’re Memorable I really believe that a funny inspirational quote will always stick in my mind easier than a seriously profound one. Profound and serious is good, but I get lost when they are too wordy and long. They Lift My Spirits I prefer short and funny inspirational quotes because they’re like a double-shot cappuccino- they wake me up with a jolt of energy and they also give me a good chuckle! Life is too short to be gloomy. They’re For Everyone No matter where you’re from, I think that humour is very relatable. You Can Spread The Joy They’re great for sharing because it’s good to sprinkle joy wherever you go! They Remind Me Not To Take Life too Seriously Funny inspirational quotes remind me that it’s ok to not have everything figured out. Because the person who came up with the quote is probably going through “stuff” too! Thanks so much for being here today and in case you might need some Monday motivation you can find it here! Canberra

Our Trip To Canberra

Hi friends and welcome to Friday Favourites! Today I’m recapping our overnight trip to Canberra and I’m so happy you have stopped by. Early Monday morning I set out on a road trip to Canberra with my cousin her husband, two kids and her mother-in-law who was visiting from Ohio. I had been looking forward to this trip so much. I love hanging out with my cousins and a trip with them was definitely the highlight of my autumn school holiday! Canberra Canberra is the capital city of Australia and it’s located in the heart of the Australian Capital Territory. This amazing city often sits in the shadows of Sydney and Melbourne. But it’s the place where you’ll discover key political institutions like Parliament House. Canberra is all about meticulously planned geometrical streets with tons of beautiful green spaces. It’s so quiet compared to Sydney! I think every kid from NSW goes to Canberra for an overnight excursion in year 6. I know that I still remember my trip even though it was a zillion years ago. My younger cousins recently visited Canberra with their school. But they both agreed that it was more fun this time because they could roam and explore. Instead of being herded around with their school group. Fun Facts about Canberra Bush Capital: Canberra is often called the “Bush Capital” because it’s full of green spaces and so close to nature reserves. Designed for Democracy: The layout of Canberra was chosen through an international design competition, with Walter Burley Griffin’s plan ultimately selected from over 130 entries. Floriade: Canberra hosts Floriade, Australia’s largest flower festival, each spring. Floriade attracts visitors from all around the world! They come to visit the spectacular and very colourful floral displays. Home to Embassies: As the capital city, Canberra is home to numerous embassies. The Australian Alps: Despite being inland, Canberra is just a few hours’ drive from the Snowy Mountains where you can ski and snowboard during winter. Our Trip! As soon as we got to Canberra we headed straight to Questacon – Australia’s National Science and Technology Centre. It’s full of hands-on exhibits with immersive experiences like a lightning demonstration and an earthquake simulator. It reminded me a little of The Powerhouse Museum we have in Sydney. I think this was my favourite! It’s amazing how much fun you can have with some air and toilet rolls. After Questacon we went to check into our Airbnb and this was my room for the night. My cousin E claimed her room. After we got settled we went to Parliament House. Inside, we spotted Lego Parliament House and it was so cool! Can you see the three baddies sitting in the back haha! This is the view of Old Parliament House. Then it was time for dinner at Guzman and Gomez. I had a delicious burrito bowl which I devoured as I was starving after all the sightseeing. After dinner it was time to go home and we were all in bed by 9 – so early but we were exhausted! Day Two We were up early the next morning and some of us went for a walk. It was a very cool 7ºC so a hot chocolate hit the spot. After our walk, we went back home to grab the rest of the sleepy heads. We went to a nearby cafe for breakfast. It gradually got warmer and warmer – such crazy autumn weather but I love it! We headed to the Arboretum and spent time admiring the beautiful scenery. We went back to the Airbnb and packed up. It was time to visit The War Memorial. So sad to see the faces of the many fallen soldiers of World War 2. I found the miniature battle scenes I remembered so vividly from when I visited as a kid. I threw a coin in the water and made a wish. And just like that our trip to Canberra was over, hmph! We had so much fun and I treasured every minute I spent with some of my cousins. We drove back to Sydney and made a few stops along the way. I think we visited almost every McDonald’s from Canberra to Sydney! Haha. Just in case I didn’t post enough photos, I made a little video of our trip you might like to watch. I hope you all have an amazing weekend Happy Friday everyone!   Linking up with Andrea and Erika.

April-What’s Up Wednesday!

Hey there friends! It’s time to link up with Shay and share a bit about what we’ve been up to during April. Is it just me or do you think that April went by so fast too? Anyway, here we are back for What’s Up Wednesday and I’m so happy you’ve stopped by! WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK I was doing amazingly well with my meal planning until this week! I went away to Canberra for a night and got caught up in enjoying the school holidays so much that I ended up skipping my usual meal-planning routine. Sunday night I made a LOT of chicken schnitzel so there would be plenty of leftovers. I wanted to make sure that while I was away, Steve and Sam wouldn’t starve. I know, I know…crazy right? They are both grown-ups and Steve is a chef! WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT Our fun Easter weekend which was only last month but already feels like a lifetime ago. I love this pic of some of my younger cousins and me. We went hunting for chocolate eggs in Oatley Bush Park and managed to find them all before they started to melt completely. What a win! WHAT I’M LOVING I have been loving the Autumn school holidays! WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO April has been a great month which has literally disappeared before my eyes! Here are a few things I enjoyed in April. Dinner with friends. Cousin connect dinner with my favourites. Sunny walks. Shopping with friends. Brunch with the family. Homemade banana milkshakes. Pretty flowers because it still feels like spring over here! I got back last night from an amazing trip to Canberra with my cousin and her family. Here we are in front of the War Memorial. I will do a recap of our short but fun-packed 2 days away soon. WHAT I’M DREADING I’m kind of dreading this and I’m also kind of not. A long while ago I shared that Steve needed a double knee replacement. Sigh! Well, we have been back and forth with specialists over many months. And finally, we have found a surgeon we are happy with and also have a surgery date – 24th of May. The first surgeon we saw was very reputable but also charged an arm and a leg (excuse the pun!) even though we have top-cover health insurance. He suggested performing a double knee replacement and getting it all over and done once. Initially, this sounded like a great plan to both of us. But then when we consulted with another surgeon. He didn’t recommend that at all because of the potential risks involved. He even said that double knee replacements weren’t allowed to be performed in some countries! We were a bit confused as to why the first surgeon suggested a double in the first place. Who knows?? Anyway, Steve’s left knee is a mess and the cartilage has completely worn away. I don’t know how the guy manages to stay cheery all day with the level of pain he’s in! So the plan is – he will have his left knee operated on first and then it’s a three-month recovery period. The surgeon will give his right knee a steroid injection and then see how long he can go on before he needs that one operated on. It could be this year or it could be next. So while I’m dreading him having to have surgery and then of course there’s always the unknowns that I don’t want to mention. I’ll be happy when he can walk without limping and flinching. That will be a happy day! WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT Talk about mixed feelings this month! Sam is going to Japan next Friday and I’m excited for him as well as not excited because you know…my baby is going overseas on a plane!!!! Gulp! WHAT I’M WATCHING I love European shows and recently discovered a heartwarming Swedish TV series called Bonus Family. It’s a down-to-earth and quite realistic portrayal of  what a messy blended family life looks like. It’s funny too! WHAT I’M WEARING Layers! And just recently I have started to wear warmer clothes in the evenings. The weather is still all over the place and as I mentioned earlier most days still feel like spring! But as usual, I have forgotten to take photos of my outfits. WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND I’ll be trying to keep busy and think happy grateful thoughts for my two weeks off from work. WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH At the risk of sounding repetitive-I’m looking forward to Steve getting his surgery over and done with and Sam back home telling us all about his adventures in Japan. WHAT AMAZON PURCHASES I LOVED THIS MONTH I love this coffee grinder! This simple shower cap is pretty amazing too. And just like that, it’s almost time to say goodbye to April! I hope you guys had a good month and fingers crossed that May is kind to all of us! Happy Wednesday friends!

Fun Ways to Personalise Your Car

Are you eager to add a personal touch to your car and learn how to personalise your car? With a myriad of options available, customising your vehicle is an exciting venture waiting to unfold. However, if you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed about where to begin. This guide is designed to be your roadmap, guiding you through the decision-making process to ensure that the choices you make today will continue to enhance your driving experience for years to come. Fun Ways To Personalise Your Car Exploring Custom Paint Options Personalise your car with a custom paint job that not only changes the colour of your car but also transforms it into a unique expression of your style. Embarking on this creative journey allows you to freshen up your existing paintwork, giving your car a sleek and polished appearance. However, it’s important to understand that quality comes at a price. While covering up minor scratches may only dent your wallet slightly, opting for a full paint job can be a significant investment. The cost of repainting your car depends on factors such as the area you want to paint and the level of detail you desire. But don’t let the price tag deter you from pursuing your dream look! Consider it an investment in both your car’s aesthetics and your personal satisfaction. So, whether you’re aiming to personalise your car with a subtle refresh or a complete makeover, weigh your options carefully and prepare to turn heads with a custom paint job that’s as unique as you are. Discovering Vinyl Wrap Options Dive into the world of vinyl wraps—an exciting alternative for those seeking to personalise their car without committing to a full paint job. Picture this: a thin sheet of vinyl enveloping your car, offering endless possibilities for colour, texture, and design. Whether you’re craving a sleek matte finish or a bold metallic hue, vinyl wraps provide a customizable canvas to bring your vision to life. What makes vinyl wraps so appealing is their versatility. Opt for a vibrant statement colour or explore intricate patterns and textures for a truly unique look. The best part? It’s not permanent. Unlike traditional paint, vinyl wraps offer the flexibility to change your car’s appearance at any time. Furthermore, vinyl wraps aren’t just for aesthetics—they also offer protection against the elements, shielding your car’s paintwork from scratches and minor dings. Plus, they’re a breeze to maintain, requiring only a gentle wash to keep them looking flawless. Don’t underestimate the power of the little things! Car stickers are a delightful and hassle-free way to infuse your vehicle with personality, providing a touch of flair without the commitment of a full wrap. With a wide range of options available, ranging from witty slogans to intricate designs, the possibilities are as vast as your imagination. Personalised Plates: Making Your Mark Unleash the full potential of your vehicle’s identity with custom number plates. Elevating your car from ordinary to extraordinary, personalised plates are the ultimate way to make a statement on the road. As you embark on the journey of selecting your unique combination, you’ll find that the possibilities are endless, offering you the chance to truly set your car apart from the rest. Beyond merely meeting legal requirements, personalised plates allow you to infuse your car with a touch of your personality. Whether you opt for a clever phrase, your initials, or a special date, each plate becomes a reflection of your individuality. However, it’s important to note that this level of customisation often comes with a price tag. While the cost can vary depending on the popularity and desirability of your chosen combination, the investment in personalisation adds value not only to your car but also to your sense of pride and ownership. Enhancing Your Wheels Kick your car’s style into high gear with a wheel makeover that’s sure to turn heads! Beyond just upgrading your tyres, enhancing your wheels with new trims is a fantastic way to personalise your car. The options are endless, with a range of designs available online to suit every taste and preference. From sleek and sophisticated to bold and eye-catching, you can find wheel trims in all sorts of styles. Imagine adding spinners or intricate designs that make your wheels pop! However, if you prefer a more subtle enhancement, there are plenty of options for that too. As you explore the world of wheel trims, you’ll find that upgrading your car’s appearance has never been easier. But before you dive in, it’s important to address any missing hubcaps or worn-out features on your wheels. By ensuring that your car’s foundation is solid, you’ll avoid drawing attention to any less-than-perfect aspects. Spoilers Car spoilers offer more than just aerodynamic benefits—they’re also a stylish way to personalise your car. These eye-catching additions don’t just enhance your car’s appearance; they make a bold statement on the road. Whether you’re drawn to a subtle lip spoiler or a head-turning wing design, spoilers offer endless possibilities to express your unique sense of style. With a wide range of materials, shapes, and finishes available, you can customise your spoiler to perfectly match your car’s overall look. Therefore, if you’re craving a sporty edge or simply want to stand out in the crowd, adding a spoiler is the ultimate way to make your car unmistakably yours. Conclusion Dive into the world of car customisation and explore countless ways to personalise your car! From vibrant paint jobs to eye-catching wheel trims and personalised plates, each choice reflects your unique style. Let your creativity take the wheel as you transform your car into a rolling masterpiece that turns heads wherever you go.

Friday Favourites

Hey everyone! Can you believe how quickly this week flew by? I’ve had such a refreshing break from work and it’s been so good to finally have the chance to relax a bit, catch up with friends and family, and just enjoy life without having to rush around. It’s been the best feeling and I’m soaking up every moment! Bliss! I’m excited to share a few favourites and as usual, I’m happy to be joining Andrea and Erika for today’s link-up. This week I had an unexpected adventure in the city with my makeup guru bestie. We started locally but when things didn’t pan out we ended up hopping on a train to the city and had such a fun day shopping. We’ve been friends for over 20 years and spending time with her is always a favourite! She sure knows how to shop and I love how she always keeps me laughing nonstop! Wow, look at her haul! A stop at the Chanel make-up counter is always a must! My friend bought some make-up while I sampled the perfumes. I caught a glimpse of my face in the mirror and was instantly inspired to pull my face back with my fingers. Haha! Maybe face tape is not such a bad idea, but Chanel doesn’t sell that. I got a ‘Le Lift’ sample from Chanel and as always, anything that vaguely promises lift always grabs my attention! Next stop, Country Road- my favourite clothing shop where I bought a stripy top. We had lunch at Cupcakes on Pitt St. I have to admit that the name kind of threw me off. I’m a savoury girl and cupcakes for lunch didn’t sound so great. But I should have had more faith! They didn’t just offer cupcakes. It was a French-inspired cafe and they had the best chicken baguette I have ever tasted! Cupcake for dessert. We stopped off at Helen Kaminski where my friend bought a hat for her trip overseas and I had fun trying on a few hats. It’s been such a favourite to be able to catch up on some blogging and share a life update as well as a Cousin Connect recap. My lips have been feeling so dry lately. This favourite lip balm is helping a lot. American snacks and treats are a huge favourite! Steve found a petrol station where they stock some of these treats so he drove me there to buy some. Steve and I visited our local Ikea, and I’m always amazed at how quickly he can power walk through the store to get out, especially considering his dodgy knees. Haha! We had dinner. A little while ago I found my dream bedside table at Mitchell Rd Antiques. We sold the matching bedside tables that we had on Facebook marketplace. Then temporarily used an old Ikea Lack side table as a bedside table for Steve. He declared his love for this new look and didn’t want to bother buying a new bedside table. However, he needed something to store his bits and pieces. We found a storage container with a lid on our Ikea shopping trip and while it’s a little unconventional, we both think it suits just fine. Steve is such a minimalist and our kids always joke and tease him that he could have easily been a monk! Thursday I caught up with my lovely friend. We work together but we never have any time at work to barely say ‘Hi’ as we are so busy! It was so good to sit down and enjoy lunch and catch up. This morning Steve, Sam and I went out for brunch which was such a treat! We live under the same roof but work schedules keep us all feeling as if we hardly see each other. I had the huge breakfast tacos, Steve had the big breakfast and Sam chose the Barra burger (barra is short for barramundi). It was a great week with lots of favourite moments and next week I have a few outings planned that I am very excited about. I can’t wait but at the same time, I am also hoping that the days go by really slowly! That’s a wrap for this week’s favourites. Happy Friday and happy weekend everyone!

life update-studying for a Diploma in Early Childhood Education

A Little Life Update

Hey everyone, it’s time for a quick life update! I just wanted to jump on here and share with you a bit about what I have been up to. And that is–I’ve finally taken the plunge and enrolled in further studies. Yep, it’s happening! I am in the process of working towards a Diploma in Early Childhood Education. So let’s backtrack a little. After finishing school I had my sights set on being a child psychologist and while I was at uni I sort of fell into working in early childhood education. You can read all about that journey here. Now fast forward 27 years (that’s how long I have been at my current job) and things have changed a lot! When I first started, my role as a teacher’s assistant was primarily focused on prepping crafts and handling the messy tasks that come with working with young children. But as time went on, expectations began to shift big time. Nowadays my role is not just about the paint and the glue. Now there’s also a greater emphasis on the educational aspect of childcare. So in addition to the hands-on activities, my role now includes observing children’s development, recording progress and setting educational goals. Recently, I have also taken on grown-up responsibilities like parent-teacher meetings and that sure has pushed me right out of my comfort zone! I’ve also stepped up to teach when the classroom teacher, who also happens to be the director is called away, which happens quite often given her dual roles. Switching up my routine although daunting at first, feels great and stepping into the teacher’s shoes has opened my eyes to a whole new side of things. I have really loved the challenge and the opportunity to learn new skills. It’s fun leading the class and doing group times. I’m learning what works and what falls flat – little kids can be a tough audience! What’s even more inspiring is our new director’s approach. She views us as a team of teachers and has redefined traditional teacher-assistant roles at our preschool. She is constantly encouraging the whole team and her faith in me is so motivating. So here I am doing all of these new tasks but my pay doesn’t reflect this. Why? because I don’t have my Diploma in Early Childhood Education….sigh! My amazing friend and work colleague, she’s such a gem. She has been encouraging me to study for my diploma for a while now. My answer was always the same ” I can’t, I have no time!”. And it was true that between working full time and caring for my mum, I was barely keeping my head above water. Then I started blogging and loved it so much ( I still do) and I just didn’t want to spend a second of my life worrying about assignments and studying. No way! I also didn’t want to pay thousands of dollars to enrol in the Diploma course. But then life changed dramatically and suddenly I had no more excuses. To top it off there is such a shortage of diploma-trained educators that the government made the course free! Can you believe it? So while this has been me on most days ever since I started. I know that it will be worth it when I’m done, and any opportunity for further learning is always a good thing, right? Plus a pay increase would be a welcome bonus,  especially since early childhood education doesn’t pay big bucks! I’m feeling better about things lately and less overwhelmed. It’s been a huge relief to be able to tackle the assignments over the last few days while I am on school holidays. Instead of squeezing in study time before or after work. I even think that the cobwebs in my brain are starting to clear! Yay!! For now, the downside is that I have less time to devote to blogging. While I am still managing to post articles and join in the link-ups. I’m finding it tricky to find time to read and comment on my favourite blogs right away. I really love this community and I want to keep up the connections. So these days I’m mainly catching up on my blog reading on the weekends. I also keep reminding myself that this isn’t forever (it just feels like it sometimes). And I’m determined to finish this self-paced online Diploma in Early Childhood Education done and dusted pronto!  So that’s a little life update today. What’s new in your world and keeping you busy? I’d love to know. Thanks so much for stopping by.

April Cousin Connect

Hi friends, I hope you are having an amazing day! Today I’m recapping our April Cousin Connect get-together. I meant to share more about our fun night last week. But things got so busy, I ran out of time and I basically just never got around to it. Now that I’m on school holidays I finally have a chance to catch up on some blogging. So here I am on a Tuesday — better late than never, right? As I’ve shared before, our small family had kind of drifted away from getting together regularly. This was sad, especially because we all live so close by. But you know how it is–life gets crazy busy and before you know it, months go by without realising how much we missed seeing each other. Until about two years ago, we were only really catching up for some birthday celebrations and Christmas. Then everything changed after my beautiful mum passed away. It was a huge wake-up call for my family, and it made us all realise how we had let the busyness of life drift us apart! So we decided to make a change. We started meeting up on the first Saturday of every month and that’s how Cousin Connect came to be. One of my cousins gave us the name because, despite some being parents and children, we’re all cousins in the end. It’s a bit confusing but trust me we are all cousins except for an aunt hahaha! April Cousin Connect Anyway, we usually take turns hosting and up until the last catch-up, the host would provide all the food. But with everything being so darn expensive and because we’re saving up for a Cousin Connect adventure. We decided to go pot-luck where everyone brings something to share. And I honestly think it’s the best decision! There’s something special about sharing the load, bringing ingredients and then working together in the kitchen–even if it’s a tiny kitchen like mine. Here we have our charcuterie king preparing the best charcuterie board. He is a master! We had some salad whizzes making Caprese salad and bruschetta. Can you tell we had an Italian theme? I made a big pasta as well as some chicken I forgot to take a picture of. We ate in the cozy courtyard. Then we finished off with a tiramisu compliments of my dessert cousins. We also changed things up from our usual board game and played Celebrity Heads instead. What a hoot and it’s a lot harder than you think! And that was our April Cousin Connect! It sure was a fun night, and I love how we have changed things up. Not all of us can always make it to our Cousin Connects (my son Luke and his partner couldn’t make it this time) but I love that we all make an effort to prioritise our family time. We also try not to focus solely on the food and we always say—It’s not just about the food (even though there’s always so much food!), it’s about coming together regularly! Thanks so much for stopping by!

5 Reasons to Repair and Maintain Your Roof This Spring!

If you’re finding yourself in a back-and-forth about fixing your roof, it’s easy to let it slide until it becomes a major headache. But hey, waiting might not be the best idea! That little issue could snowball into something bigger and more expensive. While it’s important to stay ahead of all the latest home improvement trends, let’s not forget the basics–keeping it safe and secure. Ensuring your roof is in top shape is key to maintaining your home’s structural integrity. So why wait? Taking action now not only gives you peace of mind but also saves you money in the long run. Ready to jump into action? Here are five fantastic reasons to repair and maintain your roof this spring! 5  Reasons to Repair and Maintain Your Roof This Spring! 1. It May Deteriorate Over Time Ready to take charge of that roofing issue? It’s time to seize the moment! Procrastination is the enemy here – waiting around could lead to bigger troubles down the road. That seemingly insignificant leak? It’s like a ticking time bomb, just waiting to explode into a major headache. Turning a blind eye to it only sets the stage for even more significant problems later on. But hey, here’s the silver lining: tackling those issues head-on now isn’t just about fixing your roof; it’s about safeguarding your peace of mind. So, why put off until tomorrow what you can fix today? Seize the opportunity to take control of the situation, ensuring you’re always one step ahead of potential issues. Don’t wait any longer – prioritize your peace of mind by scheduling that essential roofing repair today! 2. Hidden Damage May Go Unnoticed Ensuring your roof is well-maintained is just as critical as addressing urgent repairs, and here’s why: often, the damage isn’t immediately visible to the naked eye. It’s like a silent threat, lurking beneath the surface, waiting to cause trouble. That’s where the expertise of professionals comes into play. With their trained eyes and diagnostic tools, they can unveil any hidden issues that may be plaguing your roof—think moisture problems festering out of sight. By opting for a comprehensive inspection, you’re peeling back the layers to reveal the true extent of the damage. Armed with this knowledge, you can take proactive steps to address the underlying issues and safeguard the integrity of your roof. 3. The Elements Could Make Matters Worse One of your roof’s worst enemies is the unpredictable weather. It’s a fact: when storms hit, even the smallest problem can turn into a big headache. Think about it: rain pouring down, wind howling—those loose tiles you’ve been ignoring. They’re just waiting to cause trouble. But here’s the good news: you’re not helpless against the elements. By taking action early, you can stop those issues in their tracks and keep your home safe and snug. So why wait for the next storm? Get ahead of the game and make sure your roof is ready to weather any storm that comes its way! 4. Getting a Maintenance Professional Might Take Longer Than Expected Ever been stuck in a bind trying to schedule your roof repairs? It’s a common headache, especially when demand peaks. Imagine you’ve got a leaky roof, but finding an available maintenance professional immediately feels like searching for a needle in a haystack. It’s a game of chance you’d rather not play. But there’s a simple fix: book your maintenance in advance. By securing your spot early, you’re not only ensuring peace of mind but also sidestepping the stress of last-minute searches. Imagine the relief of knowing your roof repairs are already scheduled, sparing you further damage and worry while waiting for an appointment. So don’t leave it to chance—plan and secure your spot. By doing so, you’re not just looking after your roof; you’re taking charge of your home maintenance and saving yourself unnecessary stress. 5. Your Insurance May Not Cover You As a responsible homeowner, you’ve likely got building insurance in place to shield your investment. It’s your safety net against any unexpected structural mishaps that could strike your property. But here’s the thing: many insurance policies come with a catch. They operate on a timeline, meaning they may not cover damage that’s left unattended for too long. Think of it as a race against the clock: the longer you delay addressing issues, the greater the risk of your insurance claim being denied. It’s a headache no homeowner wants to deal with. By acting promptly to tackle any structural concerns as soon as they arise, you’re not just protecting your home—you’re also safeguarding your insurance coverage. So don’t let time slip away. Act swiftly to ensure your insurance policy remains your safety net when you need it most. After all, when it comes to your home, it’s better to be safe than sorry! Roof Repair: Your Key to a Safe and Secure Home In conclusion, your roof is more than just a cover over your head—it’s your home’s first line of defence against the elements. By prioritising timely repairs and maintenance, you’re not just preserving its structural integrity, but also safeguarding your peace of mind and financial security. So, don’t delay any longer. Take action today to ensure your roof is ready to weather any storm that comes its way. Repair and maintain your roof this spring and enjoy the benefits of a safe, secure, and worry-free home for years to come!

weekend happenings - Hello Monday

Weekend Happenings

Hi friends and happy Monday! It’s great to be back today to recap some weekend happenings. I’m very excited to be on school holidays because term one felt so long! It actually was longer and went on for eleven weeks. We usually only have ten weeks and although one extra week doesn’t sound like much. It sure is in the preschool world! I always think that term one of preschool is a bit like childbirth, you always forget how painful challenging it is! Haha!! Saturday Anyway here is what Saturday looked like. Back to warm and sunny autumn! Earlier last week the temps dropped and I thought that it was goodbye to those beautiful warm autumn days we had been having. Saturday morning I woke up feeling pretty great so I went for a sunny walk and it was fun exploring some new streets around where I live. But from now on I have made a mental note to pay closer attention to the uneven footpaths instead of getting carried away looking at the beautiful trees and the flowers in people’s front gardens. I almost tripped over, but fortunately, I managed to pull off one of those miraculous saves where your legs go everywhere, and you somehow manage to land on your feet. Phew! It must have been a funny sight and although I gave myself a good scare, I almost burst out laughing….almost. I got home around midday and I was hungry so I made some scrambled eggs and a banana, walnut and honey milkshake. Steve went to work and Sam was competing in a weightlifting contest. I was all excited to be at home without having to spend any time thinking about the next working week. I got comfy in a beanbag with some snacks and started binge-watching a new series on Netflix called ‘Bonus Family’. In between the end of an episode and the beginning of another. I checked my phone and saw on my newsfeed that there was a tragedy unfolding at Bondi Junction Westfield. Then about a minute later my phone rang and it was Luke. He was asking me if I was OK and if I was home. He knows that I like to shop there, especially during the school holidays. I turned off the series I had been watching and turned on the regular TV. Sure enough, every channel was covering the stabbing that had just occurred inside the shopping centre. Then my family started checking in on the group chat, making sure everyone was ok. Bondi Junction is only about a 20- 30 minute drive away. It’s a great place to shop and there is always a possibility that one of us could have been there. One of my cousins used to work there a couple of years ago. My warm, fuzzy and carefree mood ended and I sat there talking to Luke, texting my bestie and messaging on the family group chat while I watched the news. We were all equally shocked to learn that a man had just randomly stabbed people in the shopping centre and by the end of the night we heard that six people had died. There are victims still in the hospital including a nine-month-old baby. It’s just so sad and the sentiment is the same everywhere – these things just don’t happen in Australia. But sadly, I guess they can. Sunday On Sunday morning, I woke up with a sore neck and a headache. I have this annoying habit of slouching in front of the computer for hours on end and watching the news with my body all tensed up for most of Saturday evening didn’t help. A while ago I decided to stop watching or listening to the news. It’s the right decision for me because constantly hearing about the state of the world is just so depressing. I’m pretty sure I’ve more than made up for it now! I did some stretching on the yoga mat and took some Panadol and Neurofen. In the afternoon, I started to feel better so I made a quick trip to the shops. Steve and I enjoyed some seafood for dinner. We weren’t celebrating anything but it’s been such a crazy and busy last couple of weeks. So a relaxing Sunday evening is exactly what we needed. We watched the latest episode of Survivor and went to bed at 10.30 which is early for me. I have been burning the candle at both ends and my body has been yelling at me to stop. So even though I am in full school holiday mode and don’t have to worry about getting up early, I’m going to listen and go to bed at a decent time. Pinky promise! Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have an amazing day! Linking up with Holly and Sarah

New Year's recap

Two Favourites

Hey there, friends! Happy Friday! As of 3:46 PM today, I’m officially on autumn break – time to finally take a breather! I’m excited to join Andrea and Erika for Friday Favourites. Can you believe I only managed to remember to snap three photos this week? It’s been quite a week, and I seem to be saying that a lot lately. Probably because term one of preschool has been quite interesting! Haha, I was trying to come up with a way to describe it, but I think I will stick to calling it ‘interesting’. Anyway, I made it through, and now it’s time to enjoy the break! Two Favourites It’s going to be a short and sweet Friday Favorites post today because I’m feeling pretty tired. Next week, I’ll be back to share all about our latest Cousin Connect get-together and a life update. Even though I’m sure I had plenty of favourite moments during the week, I forgot to take photos, and now I feel as if everything is a blur. So, for today, I’m sharing two favourites and three photos. My husband bought a new phone, a Samsung Galaxy something (I can’t recall the full name). His old phone was about 6 or 7 years old and didn’t have any sound. So he couldn’t hear it when it rang, which was pretty annoying whenever I tried to call him. It was definitely time for an upgrade. I think I was more excited about his new phone than he was! I used his phone to capture a photo of a massive drop of water that was on the plant by our front door. After a torrential downpour the night before, this huge drop of rain must have accumulated on the leaf. Isn’t it amazing! What’s also amazing is that as I was about to take the photo with Steve’s fancy new phone, I said “Wow” out loud, and guess what? The phone just went ahead and took the picture all on its own! I was so surprised and I thought it must have been a fluke so I tried it again and yep, it did the same thing. WOW!! Midweek dinner out with friends was a fun favourite! Cheers! Oh my goodness, that night I had the best burger I’ve had in a very long time! I mean, it might just be my favourite burger ever, I think! The burger patty was so tender and full of flavour. It was cooked so that it was quite rare, which is not a thing over here. All our burgers are always well done and if we ever see any pink in the middle of the patty it’s an instant cause for panic and fears of immediate food poisoning. But we were in a very nice restaurant and this burger was no ordinary burger. I can still vividly remember the flavour of the truffle aioli! So good! The shoestring fries were also divine, crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. My only complaint and that of my friends was that it needed a pickle on the side for some crunch and acidity. Haha, we sat there critiquing the burger as if we were food critics. The plush atmosphere must have gone to our heads or maybe it was the Aperol spritz! Nah, it really needed a pickle! And that’s it for today friends! A very short and sweet look at two favourites. I hope you have an amazing weekend and thank you so much for stopping by. I’m going to hop off, have a shower, eat dinner and watch an old favourite movie. I haven’t decided which one yet but I’m sticking to an oldie because chances are that I will fall asleep halfway through, if not before! Happy Friday!
