Friday Favourites

Happy Friday, friends! We made it through another week, yay! I’m already so excited to sleep in tomorrow. This morning I woke up before my alarm went off, and for a split second I thought it was Saturday. Then I realised I was very much mistaken. Don’t you hate it when that happens? Haha!

Anyway, I’m here to share a few things that made me smile this week. Thanks so much for stopping by. 😊

Last weekend, we went back to the Opera Bar, but this time with some friends. Sparkling wine, delicious food, and plenty of funny stories made it such a great Saturday, and it was so much warmer than I expected. I still took a thick jacket just in case I got cold. It’s that time of year when one minute you’re boiling hot and the next it’s freezing again. I carried my jacket around for most of the day, but when I needed it, I really needed it! That first gust of chilly wind made me very glad I hadn’t trusted the weather app too much.

On Monday, I worked from home like a grown-up. When you work in early childhood, you don’t get to be in a city office, dress up for work, or even drink your coffee while it’s still warm. Working remotely doesn’t really exist for us, just one day a term to do developmental summaries, and I’m happy to take it.

After a full day on the computer and feeling like my eyes had gone square, I organised some of my song visuals into my pretty pink binder. The summaries were mostly done, so this was my little reward. I haven’t changed much since high school, even though it’s been umpteen years since I finished. I’ve always preferred making my binder pretty over doing schoolwork.

I nearly forgot to show you my Monday lunch. Steve made a cheesy omelette with ham, tomato, and avocado, and we had half each. Yup, I definitely enjoyed my work-from-home day a whole lot.

Look at these bright yellow flowers. They’re right outside my front door, and every time I walk past, I get so happy to see them. Hello, pretty flowers!

It was R U OK? Day on Thursday, and some of the staff brought treats.

I convinced Steve to watch Breaking Bad! He didn’t need much convincing since we’re all enjoying Better Call Saul. Breaking Bad is such a good show, and it’s my second time watching it. It’s been about 10 years since I first saw it, so I remember some parts but not everything.

I did remember the bathtub incident, though! Oh my goodness!!

We went back to Lilong because we just can’t get enough of their delicious Chinese food.

My work buddy supplied me with some yummy snacks.

And those were a few of my favourite things about this week. How was your week? I hope it was a good one. I’ll be back on Monday and really want to get back into blogging a bit more regularly. I’ve been in a bit of a funk, and I’d like to shake it off. That’s the goal.

Wishing you a very happy weekend!

  1. I hope you get your sleep in!
It sounds like you had a lovely time at the Opera Bar. The weather has been like that here today. Warm one minute and then freezing the next.
How cool that you could work from home for at least one day and yum to the lunch!
Those flowers are so pretty and I love Breaking Bad. I have watched it all a few times and you always seem to notice something new. Eek! That bathtub incident.

  2. My husband and I don’t typically set an alarm since we’re both early risers… but not today! We overslept by at least an hour which made for a rushed morning. I could have happily rolled over and fallen back to sleep. I blame the time change from Montana to here… but I’m not sure if it really is that. Your work from home day sounds so lovely! We just finished Better Call Saul and were debating about starting Breaking Bad again but my youngest wasn’t entirely sure he wanted to watch it; somehow without having really watched the show even he knows about the bathtub incident!

  3. The weather over here sounds about the same. Warm one minute and chilly winds the next!
I love the pretty flowers. I can see why they cheer you up.
We loved Breaking Bad! I wish I could find something as good as this to watch. There doesn’t seem to be much at the mo.
Hope you’ve had a lovely weekend, Ruth. xx
